Year 3 Narrative

This week, year 3 have published and written their narrative based on the Wellington Cobbler and The Wrekin Giant. The children worked so hard to include the grammatical features taught throughout the unit.

Please enjoy reading over a selection of the children’s work:

Year 5 DT Workshop

On Monday, year 5 were very fortunate to be visited by a DT specialist. They were given the opportunity to create a mechanism for a local company called Cedo.

The children made a pulley system using dowel and wheels. They also made a ‘conveyor belt’ out of paper which attached over the dowel and wheels to allow the paper to move an item (cling film rolls made out of straws) from one side of the mechanism to the other side. The children had lots of fun creating their mechanism!

At the end of the workshop, the children showcased their work to each other.

Year 3 My Telford

On Wednesday year 3 visited Dawley High Street and Telford Town Centre as part of their geography field work. They were investigating the question: ‘Does Telford Town Centre have more facilities than Dawley High Street?’ The children loved walking around both places and using their maths skills to create a tally whenever they spotted a facility!

Back in school, the children will now use their data to create a bar chart and stage a debate to show where they would rather live – Dawley High Street or Telford Town Centre.

Poppy’s dancing achievements

At the weekend, Poppy competed in a dance competition. She competed in ballet, tap, modern, lyrical, lyrical duets, modern duets and a group dance. She finished the weekend with an amazing 7 medals!

Poppy’s sister, Violet, also competed in the competition and came away with 3 medals.

Well done on the competition, Poppy and Violet. Keep up the great dancing!

DT Parent Workshop

On Friday, the children invited their parents in to showcase their skills used to make a Greek feast – pitta bread, Greek salad and tzatziki.

Thank you to all of the parents/carers who came in to help! We hope you enjoyed helping and eating our yummy food!

Y3 – Fire Service Visit

Today, Year 3 children were joined by the firemen from Shropshire Fire and Rescue. They learnt all about fire safety, how to phone 999 and asked the firemen lots of interesting questions.
