Year 2 Careers Week

As part of Careers Week, Year 2 enjoyed visits from some very special guests who shared their exciting jobs with us.

We were fascinated to meet Tom, a British Airways pilot, who told us all about his daily role, the important safety checks he completes before every flight, and the many amazing destinations he has travelled to around the world. We even had the chance to pretend we were landing an aeroplane and were thrilled to try on his pilot’s hat!

We also welcomed a hairdresser called Sam, who explained what it’s like to work in a salon and shared some of the skills needed to care for and style hair. She told us that her favourite hairstyle that she has ever done was one for the Olympics!

 

The visits were a fantastic way to inspire our children and help them learn about a variety of careers. A big thank you to our visitors for giving up their time to make Careers Week so memorable!

Y1 Careers Week

We loved Careers Week in Year 1. We were lucky enough to be visited by a soldier from RAF Cosford and a paramedic. The children loved completing circuits and training hard like a soldier to the story of ‘We are going on a Bear Hunt.’ They were shocked at how heavy the soldier’s hat was! We also learnt some interesting facts about the life of a paramedic including how they drive an ambulance to save peoples lives. It has really made us think about the careers that we might like to do when we get older. Some of them are a teacher, a pilot, a scuba diver, a footballer, an artist, a soldier driving a red arrow and a vet. The future for Captain Webb children is looking bright!

Reception Careers Week – Zoo Keeper Visit

On Monday, Reception had a very exciting visitor as part of our Careers Week. Jacob, a Zoo Keeper from The Exotic Zoo in Telford, came to talk to us about his amazing job.

Jacob told us all about what he does each day, including cleaning the animal enclosures and feeding all the different animals. We loved hearing fun facts about some of the zoo’s residents, like Smudge the capybara, who enjoys eating fruit, vegetables and leaves, and Captain the parrot, who was full of personality.

The children were fascinated and asked lots of brilliant questions. Jacob inspired us by showing how caring for animals can be a fun and important job.Thank you, Jacob, for visiting us and teaching us so much.

Lego Festival

Well done to our Y6 children who presented their Lego masterpieces at the Lego competition held today. We are really proud of the effort and commitment you showed to Lego club over the past 12 weeks – we hope you enjoyed your day with Capgemini.

Grimm – Once Upon a Musical

Rehearsal for Grimm, Once Upon a Musical have really ramped up and the show is looking great! We are really proud of the children and how they are performing! Keep it up Year 6!!

Y1 Break the Rules!

Our Year 1 children loved breaking the rules today! They paid money to wear their own clothes and bring in a toy. They also had some interesting hair styles, nail varnish and make up to finish off their looks. As an extra special rule break they also had some delicious sweets!

Y6 Mexican Meal

Today, Year 6 cooked and hosted a Mexican Meal for parents to celebrate the end of their topic, ‘Hola Mexico’. The children have been learning about traditional Mexican flavours in design and technology and put together a menu for parents. A huge thank you to everyone who came, we hope that you enjoyed the afternoon.

A day of Welcome

As part of Refugee week we look at different ways to express welcome and courage. In groups of 4 we created our own ‘Courage Trophies’ these trophies have been created to show courage and support to others who join our school.

Black Country Living Museum

Y5 went on a trip to the Black Country Living Museum to enchance our understanding of the topic we are learning about – ‘Changes over time’. We enjoyed finding out about the different ways of life and the types of houses and shops that people in Victorian times would have be accustomed too. We even had a lesson at school where Mrs Penfold, Mrs Davies and our parent helpers got told off for their nail varnish!!!!
