Yearly Overview

Curriculum Framework Overview – Year 2

Year 2 trips

In Autumn 2 we become Habitat Specialists in our topic Wriggle and Crawl! As part of this Science topic we learn all about habitats around the world and take a visit to Dudley Zoo to see the animals that live in those habitats. We use this information to help us write a non-chronological report in English about World Habitats.

In Spring 1 we have a visit to Telford Central Mosque where we learn all about the key religious artefacts in a Mosque and routines.

Our Spring 2 topic is London. It is an exciting topic where we learn about all the key landmarks in London. This takes us on an exciting trip to London where children will be able to see all the London Landmarks on an exciting River Cruise and see the landmark from a height whilst riding on the spectacular London Eye! We use all of our knowledge from Geography lessons to help us locate these landmarks.

For Summer 1, as part of our topic Scented Garden, we visit and explore the beautiful Dorothy Clive Gardens where we walk around the colourful gardens, visit the waterfall, plant some seeds and find out all about bees and how we can protect them! After this visit, we create a diamante poem based on the waterfall at Dorothy Clive.

Finally in Summer 2 we visit New Brighton Beach as part of our Geography fieldwork. Here we look at all the physical and human features of the beach, whilst asking members of the public whether they prefer human or physical features. Alongside all of this, we even have time to build sandcastles and even have an ice cream!
