Welcome from the Chair of Governors

On behalf of the Governors, a very warm welcome to our school web site. I hope you find it easy to use and that it gives you a taste of what we have to offer to you, your children and the wider community. Captain Webb Governing body has 8 members, consisting of highly motivated people from all walks of life.  They collectively bring with them the required skills and attributes needed to make sure the school is led and managed effectively, remains solidly focused on school improvement, which motivates pupils in a safe environment.

Governors hold regular meetings throughout the academic year and make decisions covering all aspects of the school community.  Including, teaching and learning, curriculum, deployment of staff and budget management.

Every Governor is fully committed to ensuring that Captain Webb Primary School provides the very best learning opportunities to enable every pupil to achieve their full potential.

Governor Biographies

Mark Chetwood   Chair of Governors

'I have been a Governor of Captain Webb Primary School since 1996, initially as a co-optee representing Great Dawley Town Council.  I was delighted to be asked to join the school as a Governor and pleased to follow in the footsteps of my late Grandfather, George Chetwood, who was the very first Chair of Governors when the school opened in 1965.

I also have great memories of being an infant school pupil here too!

I have worked in education for 36 years, first for Shropshire County Council followed by Telford and Wrekin and currently the Polesworth Community Academy Trust.  I have helped set up and trial some of the first Summer Schools in Telford.  I particularly enjoyed undertaking various projects to support the West Midlands Service for Travelling Children.  I have also enjoyed being a Governor in other educational settings both in Shropshire and Telford.

As a Governor I passionately believe and work to ensure that every child attending Captain Webb Primary School receives the very best inclusive education and is vigorously supported to achieve their full potential.  In addition to being the current Chaair of Governors, I also sit on the Health and Safety Finance Committees.
