Art – Pointillism

Year 6 have enjoyed their first few days back at school with a unit of art. We have been looking at artwork inspired by Kenojuak Ashevak, a modern inuit artist. The children have been practicing pointillism, an artistic technique where small dots are made to produce texture and movement.

First Week in Preschool

A Wonderful First Week in Preschool! 🌟

What an amazing first week we have had in Preschool! The children have settled in brilliantly and have enjoyed exploring all of the exciting activities and learning opportunities available to them.

Some of the children’s favourite activities included playing with the emergency vehicles and small world characters, using story characters to retell familiar tales, and role-playing family life in our home corner kitchen. They have also enjoyed exploring the family-themed tuff tray, using sand moulds and tools, and discovering what they could create in the construction area.

Out in the nursery garden, the children enthusiastically took part in a range of activities. They enjoyed counting and sorting bear families, painting at the easel, and developing their physical skills through a variety of ball games, including throwing, kicking, and striking. Water play proved very popular, with the children exploring pouring, filling, and racing boats through the pipes.

Both indoors and outdoors, the children enjoyed using stencils at the writing stations, helping to develop their early mark-making and fine motor skills. Some of the most popular outdoor areas were the bikes and the adventure playground, where the children have been building their confidence, coordination, and friendships.

We are so proud of how well everyone has settled into Preschool and look forward to many more exciting learning experiences in the weeks ahead!

Well done, Preschool! 😊

A Thank You From Y2!

What a first week we have had in Year 2! We have loved using all of the new resources in our classrooms and we wouldn’t have had them without you. We want to say a massive thank you to all the amazing parents/carers that chose to donate money so that we could provide lovely new play equipment for your children to enjoy. Also thank you to those of you that had a sort out for us and donated toys too. The greenhouse has been a particular hit and we have already planted daffodil bulbs, pansies and sweet peas. We can’t wait to see them grow. Here are a few photos of just some of the things you helped us to purchase. THANK YOU!

Year 5 Educational Visit to RAF Cosford

Year 5 had a wonderful time at RAF Cosford on Wednesday. They enjoyed a Battle of Britain workshop as well as tours of all the hangars, they finished their day off with the 4D flight experience ‘Canyon Racer’.

Year 3 Stone Age Drawing!

We have started off our journey in Year 3 by looking at Stone Age Art! We were intrigued to find out how art was created in the Caves during the Stone Age. We tried techniques such as stippling and blended fade to draw Stone Age animals using charcoal.

Here is some of our work!

Emily – Year 6

Emily participated in the Alder Hey summer challenge this summer. She was supposed to walk 43 miles over the summer but did 92 miles. She has raised £499 for Alder Hey hospital.

Congratulations.  We are all extremely proud of you!

Year 1 Learning through Play

A Wonderful Week of Learning Through Play in Year 1

This week, Year 1 have been busy learning through play and developing important skills across the curriculum.

In maths, we have been practising our counting skills through a range of fun, hands-on activities. The children showed great enthusiasm as they counted, sorted and explored numbers in different ways.

During our phonics sessions, we have been using Fred Talk to sound out and blend words. The children are becoming increasingly confident at listening carefully to sounds and using them to read and spell new words.

We also enjoyed a fantastic team-building challenge. Working together in small groups, the children used cups and lollipop sticks to design and build their own bridges. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills as they planned, tested and adapted their structures.

It has been wonderful to see the children learning, collaborating and growing in confidence through play. Well done, Year 1, for another fantastic week! 🌟

Ten little fingers and ten little toes

This week we have started our first topic all about ourselves and our families. We looked at the book ‘Ten little fingers and ten little toes.’

We started creating our painted self portraits, talking about the different features of our faces and looking at our homes and families using the different building materials and mark making equipment.

We also took part in our first P.E. and forest school sessions
