Yr 4 Letters to the Prime Minister
Our topic this half term is Blue Abyss and we have been learning all about plastic pollution and how it affects the environment and the animals that live in our oceans! In English, we decided to write formal letters to our Prime Minister telling him about this problem and giving him ideas to help reduce plastic waste.
Week 5 We’re Going on a Bear Hunt
This week the children looked at the text ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. The enjoyed making their own shape bears, creating the scenes from the text using different materials and practicing their scissor skills. The also enjoyed using the playdough to create characters and scenes from the story. This week they also got to use the construction vehicles in compost digging and creating paths just like real construction workers. The children also celebrate Number day by dressing up with their favourite numbers on.
This is My Place Y6
This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and in year 6 we have spoken about belonging and what this means. We made a mosaic by each producing a square that represents us and then putting these all together to show that we belong.
Year 1 Safer Internet Day
On Safer Internet Day we learnt all about what AI (Artificial Intelligence) is and how to use it safely. We talked about AI that we have in our home like Alexa. At home we use Alexa to ask about the weather or play music that we like and we discussed how this was a safe way to use AI. We learnt that it would be unsafe to tell AI personal information about ourselves or our friends. We also joined in a webinar with lots of other schools to learn about AI and how computers learn information from humans.

Y3 Internet Safety Day
To celebrate safer internet day, we watched a live stream all about AI. It covered: what it is, where it gets the information from and how I can be safe whilst using it?
In class, we carried the discussion on by talking about voice assistant devices that we may have in our house and how they are powered by AI. We spoke about how to be safe whilst using them such as the information that we should and shouldn’t share.
We used the slogan ‘Stop, Think, Ask’ when thinking about how to be safe.
For our activity, we created a poster to help others to remember how to be safe whilst using AI, especially when using voice assistants that they may have at home.
Year 2 Safer Internet Day!
In Year 2 we have been learning all about staying safe online for Safer Internet Day. We learnt all about what AI (Artificial Intelligence) is and how to use it safely.
We spoke about AI that we have in our home like Alexa and Siri. We use Alexa at home to tell us the time, to play music, turn lights on and off, set alarms, help us with our homework and tell us what the weather for the day will be like. We discussed how to safely use AI and that telling these devices our personal information would be unsafe.
We also joined in a webinar with lots of other schools to learn about AI and how computers learn information from humans. We looked at how AI might recognise animals and we were then asked to draw a cat to help AI recognise different types of cats.

Indoor kwik cricket tournament

On Wednesday, we took a team to the T&W indoor kwik cricket tournament hosted at Telford Tennis Centre. The team made an amazing start winning all 4 group games, followed by a couple of close victories in both the quarter and semi finals to secure a spot in the final against Sir Alexander Fleming. Whilst we managed to score our highest run total of the whole tournament we unfortunately lost out to a very good team meaning we took silver medals on the day. However, by making it to the final we also qualified for the Shropshire School Games in the summer which is a huge achievement.
Reception – The Way Back Home
This week in Reception we have been learning the story The Way Back Home. The children have really enjoyed exploring the adventure in the story and talking about the characters and what might happen next. We have been practising retelling the story and using our imaginations to create our own ideas.
We have also been very busy with lots of exciting activities! The children loved making Valentine’s Day cards for their families and friends. They worked carefully to decorate them and write special messages.
In our creative area, we made clay Martian aliens inspired by our story. The children had lots of fun shaping, rolling and adding details to their aliens. In the construction area, they built fantastic spacecrafts using the blocks, showing great teamwork and imagination.
In Maths, we have been learning how to add numbers together. The children have been using practical resources and objects to help them count and find the total.
We are very proud of all the wonderful learning that has taken place this week!

Y3 Cityscape collage
For their art unit this half term, the children were creating cityscapes inspired by the artist Paul Klee. The children used a range of mediums such as paper, card, tissue paper and crepe paper to create their final work. They did such a fabulous job!
Zoom to the moon
This week we have been learning all about space with our zoom to the moon story. We made our own rocket in the role play area, made aliens in the play dough and explored making night sky pictures using the chalks and the glitter.
