Year 3 Visit to Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre!

Our Visit to Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre

We had a fantastic visit to Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre to learn more about life in the Stone Age. We took part in a range of exciting, hands-on activities, including learning how Stone Age people made fires and creating our own cave art paintings. We also explored the museum, where we looked at displays showing what life was like in the Stone Age, including campfires and an impressive woolly mammoth skeleton. To finish our visit, we watched an interesting video all about discovering life in the Stone Age. It was a fun and informative experience that helped us develop our knowledge and understanding of how people lived thousands of years ago! We had so much fun!

Well done to all the children for their wonderful behaviour on the trip!

Take a look at some of the photos from the day!

Canoeing Enrichment Year 3.

Year 3 have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to go canoeing. Children were taught how to row forwards, backwards, turn left and right. Children also helped to return the canoes and take off the ropes to secure them safely. The children had so much fun and we have ticked off one of our enrichments this year! Have a look at some pictures. πŸ›ΆπŸ˜πŸ‚

Y2 Hygiene Talk

Out theme this half term is Healthy Me! As part of this we have been learning all about hygiene and we were lucky enough to have a visit from some nurses. They told us all about oral hygiene and some of us were shocked to find out that we need to brush our tongue as well as our teeth. The best part was putting gel onto our hands and holding them under a UV light to see the germs. Once we washed our hands for 20 seconds we put them back under the light and the germs were gone!

We’re going to the dentist

This week we started looking at people who help and look after us including the dentist. We talked about what the dentist does and what happens when we go to see one.

The children learnt all about cleaning their teeth and why it is important and they loved exploring our dentist set up in the roleplay area. We explored healthy food in the play dough and even made our own toothpaste.

Year 5 and 6 Take Part in Loudmouth ‘Screentime’ Workshop

Year 5 and Year 6 pupils recently took part in the engaging and informative ‘Screentime’ workshop delivered by Loudmouth Education and Training.

The workshop explored how children can stay safe, healthy and positive when using technology, social media and online games. Through interactive discussions, videos and real-life scenarios, pupils learned about the benefits of being online as well as some of the potential risks they may encounter.

Children were encouraged to think about balancing screen time with other activities, managing their digital wellbeing and making sensible choices when communicating online. The workshop also highlighted the importance of privacy, respectful behaviour and knowing where to seek help if something online makes them feel uncomfortable or worried.

Our pupils participated thoughtfully throughout the session, sharing ideas and asking insightful questions. The workshop provided valuable guidance that will help them become responsible, safe and confident digital citizens.

We would like to thank Loudmouth for delivering such an engaging and relevant session for our children.

Week 7 Learning through Play

This week in Year 1, the children have been busy exploring a range of exciting continuous provision activities. We have been consolidating our understanding of addition and subtraction number pairs to 10 through practical games and challenges, helping to strengthen our confidence with number facts.

In phonics, the children have been reading and writing words containing their Set 2 sounds, applying their growing knowledge in a variety of engaging activities. Our knight-themed small world area has inspired lots of imaginative storytelling, with children creating adventures, solving problems and bringing their ideas to life through play. We have also enjoyed spending time in the fairy gardens, using our creativity, language and curiosity to explore the magical outdoor environment.

It has been wonderful to see the children learning, collaborating and developing their skills through play-based experiences across the week. βœ¨πŸ“šπŸ°πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ
