Diwali week
This week the children have been looking at Diwali as part of our Celebration topic. They have enjoyed making Diya lamps and Diwali bells. They have also been exploring light and shadows because the story behind the Diya lamps is that they are used to show how light/good triumphed over darkness/evil in the Rama and Sita story. The children have also been looking at Rangoli patterns and using this knowledge in creating repeating patterns. This week the children were enjoying using the equipment in their P.E. session.
Diwali
This week in Daycare we have celebrated Diwali. We have explored activities based around colour and pattern. We made our own Rangoli patterns using coloured water, play dough, shapes and the paints. We also explored some traditional music and dancing.
Binny’s Diwali
This week Reception have enjoyed learning all about Diwali and how Diwali is celebrated. The children have been exploring torches and learning what gives us light. We have investigated materials that light will travel through and have learned how shadows are made. In Numbersense the children have been counting amounts to 5 and have been explaining where they can see 5 and where they cannot see 5.
Dudley Zoo Trip – A Fantastic Day of Learning and Adventure!
Yesterday, our pupils enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to Dudley Zoo and Castle. The trip provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to deepen their understanding of wildlife and different world habitats while having a memorable day out with their classmates.
As part of the visit, the children took part in a special “World Habitats” workshop, where they explored how animals adapt to life in rainforests, deserts, oceans, and polar regions. The session was hands-on, engaging, and packed with fascinating facts. The children asked thoughtful questions and learned so much about the challenges animals face in their environments and the importance of protecting natural habitats around the world.
We were incredibly proud of how well the children represented the school—showing curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm throughout the trip. A huge thank you to our staff and parent helpers for making the day both safe and enjoyable.
We look forward to building on this experience back in the classroom and continuing our learning about animals, habitats, and the natural world.

DT Parent Workshop
On Friday, the children invited their parents in to showcase their skills used to make a Greek feast – pitta bread, Greek salad and tzatziki.
Thank you to all of the parents/carers who came in to help! We hope you enjoyed helping and eating our yummy food!

I Have a Dream…
Year 6 have been learning all about the influence of Martin Luther King Jr. over the past 2 weeks in English. We have taken inspiration from his famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, and written our own speeches showing our hopes, aspirations and dreams for the world, the environment, our country, our friends and our family. We hope you enjoy this video, made from our collective speeches.
