Year 2 Tennis Festival

On Wednesday, 8 children from Year 2 went to Telford Tennis centre for a tennis festival where they completed a variety of challenges and also had the opportunity to play some matches against children from different schools. They all had a fantastic attitude towards learning new skills and represented the school amazingly.

Walking through the jungle

This week we read the story ‘walking through the jungle’.

We have explored different sounds and ways to move our bodies, like the animals in the story. We have painted pictures of the animals and made our own binoculars ready to go for an animal hunt in forest school.

The children have enjoyed sorting the different wild animals into groups and counting how many they have.

Y4 Our Underwater Art

For our Blue Abyss topic this half term, we have been studying American artist Micheal Hoffman, who creates marine wildlife art. We looked at complimentary colours and tested out different watercolour techniques in our sketchbooks. We also looked at how tint and tone can be used to create depth in our paintings.

We really enjoyed sketching different sea creatures and finishing our artwork using watercolour paints.

Lost and Found

Reception have been learning about transport. This week we have been learning about boats. We have shared the story “Lost and Found” and have been talking about how the story is set in The South Pole which is different to England.

We have been learning about how heavy objects sink and light objects float. In our numbersense we have been learning about 7 and how 7 is made. We have even made our own boats using 7 blocks!

Y5’s trip to Chester Zoo

On Wednesday 14th January Y5 went on a trip to Chester Zoo. The purpose of this trip was to find out more about the types of animals that lived in a rainforest and experience the animals and climate close up. Everyone had a fantastic day!

Chess Competition

On Thursday of week 2, eight year 6 children attended the Shropshire schools Junior Chess championship, bidding for a place in the National Junior chess championship. The room was full of seasoned players and Shropshire’s own individual champion. Our team, all competing for the first time, did brilliantly, every played secured a win and Captain Webb narrowly missed out of the podium by half a point, finishing in an admirable 4th place out of 8. Well done to team members, Lukas, Lochlan, Harry, Lutful, Geroge, Mason, Iosif and Mathew.
