Extracts from our London Eye Mystery story

We have focused on the features of a mystery story. We wrote about a character that ended up in a different dimension after taking a ride on the London Eye! He had to tackle a strange maze and ended up finding a mysterious golden envelope which was addressed to the Prime Minister. The children ended the story on a cliffhanger……

Orbits!

Y5 are focusing on Space this half term and the children created their own models to show the orbits of the Sun, Earth and Moon!



World Book Day 2026 – Year 5

Thursday 5th March was World Book Day! We have had lots of fun for WBD and we wanted to share some of our wonderful costumes and exciting activities we have taken part in!

The book we focused our activities on in Y5 was ‘Pie in the Sky’ by Remy Lai. We completed a range of activities from designing our very own dream cake to experimenting with black out poetry. The activities have been a great success and here is some of our work!

Y5’s trip to Chester Zoo

On Wednesday 14th January Y5 went on a trip to Chester Zoo. The purpose of this trip was to find out more about the types of animals that lived in a rainforest and experience the animals and climate close up. Everyone had a fantastic day!

Mr Egypt!

Mr Egypt paid Y5 a visit this week! He came to school with lots of interesting artefacts, extensive knowledge about Ancient Egyptian life and secrets of his past. The children enjoyed making themselves into mummies! and learning how to write their name in hieroglyphics! A great day had by all!




 







Y5 – English Narrative Writing ‘An Alternative Chapter’

Children wrote an alternative chapter for their guided reading book this half term ‘MY FRIEND THE ENEMY’ written by Dan Smith.  Please enjoy extracts from their fantastic writing!

   

Y5 – RAF COSFORD VISIT (WWII)

Year 5 spent a day at RAF Cosford. This was linked to their topic theme ‘Battle of Britain’

Children enjoyed exploring the different hangers and then took part in a WWII workshop where they got to met airman BOB, experienced a real life Anderson Shelter and listened to the sounds of an air raid. It was a fun filled and informative day!

     

European Day of Languages

Y5 enjoyed learning a new song in French this week to celebrate European Day of Languages. We also learnt a new version of the chorus using different languages thanks to Vanessa, Andrea and Rebecca!
