World Poetry Day

World Poetry Day is celebrated every year on the 21st of March. It was originally started by UNESCO in 1999 with the aim of promoting the reading, writing, publishing, and teaching of poetry around the world.

Different forms of poetry from all around the world are celebrated. The day is also used as a reminder to encourage people to write and recite poetry.

At Captain Webb we celebrated World Poetry Day by performing poems in assembly and sharing poems we have written in our English lessons.
