NSPCC Number Day in Year 2!

As part of number day, children came into school wearing clothing with numbers on! We bought in number games and had such fun playing them. We played games such as UNO, Top Trumps, Hit the Button, Snakes and Ladder and our favourite… BINGO!

Year 2 Tennis Festival

On Wednesday, 8 children from Year 2 went to Telford Tennis centre for a tennis festival where they completed a variety of challenges and also had the opportunity to play some matches against children from different schools. They all had a fantastic attitude towards learning new skills and represented the school amazingly.

Rosalind Monks Artwork!

In Art, we have been looking at the artist Rosalind Monks. We learnt all about how she takes inspiration from what she has seen when travelling the world to help her create art. She likes to draw animals and she uses one line at a time when drawing.

We drew our own ‘Rosalind Monks’ inspired animals – we focused on minibeasts as we will soon be learning about them and their habitats.

Here are some of our pieces of art.

Forest School Days!

In Year 2, we have started off the half term with Forest Schools! We really enjoy Forest Schools as it helps us learn in lots of new ways. Our topic this half term is ‘Wriggle and Crawl’ and during our Forest School session we used clay and natural resources to make minibeasts. We loved it!

We also loved exploring the Forest School!

We Made Healthy Pizzas!

In Year 2 we have been making healthy pizzas as part of our DT unit. We tried different pizza toppings, prepared our toppings for the pizza (by slicing, cutting and grating) and finally we made our pizzas!

We then tasted them and they were delicious!! 😊

All about Germs!!

In Year 2, we have been looking at hygiene as part of our Science topic ‘Healthy Me’. We have been learning about germs and how they are spread. We found out that a scientist called Louis Pasteur discovered germs were living things and could be spread through touch and air.

To show how easily germs can spread, we gave each other high 5’s, handshakes and touched the table to watch the ‘germs’ (herbs!!) spread all over our hands.

We had so much fun (even though it was a little messy!)

Oliver’s Fruit Salad!

After listening to the story Oliver’s Fruit Salad, we decided we wanted to make our own! We read the instructions carefully, making sure we did each instruction correctly.

Afterwards, we tried our fruit salad and it was delicious!!

We will be writing our own instructions about how to make a fruit salad!

Year 2 are Posties!

As part of our Place Value Maths unit, we have been looking at numbers to 100. We have been looking at the value of tens and ones, comparing numbers and putting them in order.

Today, Year 2 acted as posties and delivered letters to the residents of Webb Crescent. We needed to make sure that we read the numbers correctly to ensure the letters were delivered to the correct place!

We had a great time 🙂
