On Wednesday 8th July, Year 4 and Year 5 pupils had the opportunity to meet Melissa from Telford College, who works as a Schools Liaison Officer. Melissa visited to talk to the children about her role and the work she does to support schools and young people as they think about their future education and career pathways.
During the session, Melissa explained how she works with schools across the local area, helping pupils learn about further education opportunities and the wide range of courses available at Telford College. She shared information about college life, different career options, and the importance of developing skills and interests from an early age.
The pupils listened attentively and asked thoughtful questions about Melissa’s job, what a typical day looks like, and how she helps young people make informed choices about their futures. The talk provided an excellent opportunity for children to learn about a different career and gain an insight into the world of further education.
The visit was both informative and engaging, and the children thoroughly enjoyed meeting Melissa. We would like to thank her for taking the time to visit our school and inspire our pupils.
As a follow up, children created their own ‘passport’ for their dream job. We had a range of different jobs from painters to vets!
