Sewing Waistcoats

Year 6 have been doing some design and technology (DT) this week, working on their sewing skills. The children were set the challenge of designing a Christmas themed waistcoat that would be fit for a Christmas performance.

Dance Competition

We wanted to say a huge congratulations to 2 of our Year 6 students, who took part in a dance show last weekend. They performed fantastically well, with enthusiasm and professionalism. Well done George and Ambrose!

Year 6 Detectives

In Year 6 this morning, we became detectives to investigate the disappearance of Alma. We are going to be writing newspapers in English and have really immersed ourselves in the world of reporters.

We are looking forward to continuing our investigations to find the culprit of this terrible crime.

I Have a Dream…

Year 6 have been learning all about the influence of Martin Luther King Jr. over the past 2 weeks in English. We have taken inspiration from his famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, and written our own speeches showing our hopes, aspirations and dreams for the world, the environment, our country, our friends and our family. Science – Circulatory System

In Year 6 this week, we have been learning all about the circulatory system and how blood moves around our body.

We found our pulse using a cocktail stick and then went outside to set up a model of the circulatory system including the blood, the blood vessels and the heart.

Science – Microorganisms

Year 6 have been looking back at their science enquiry skills by making observations over time. We have been learning about microorganisms, why they are a living thing and trying to find out where is the dirtiest place in the classroom.

Computing Competition Year 6

Year 6 had the opportunity to test their computational thinking at an event held at HLC in conjunction with RoarTech. The children tested their problem solving and reasoning skills through a variety of unplugged activities to try to crack the code.

Mark Chetwood Visit Year 6

In science, Year 6 have been learning all about microorganisms. We had a visit from Mark Chetwood from Langley, who helped us to set up an investigation with petri dishes. We were able to choose and swab places around the classroom and will be observing over time to see if there are microorganisms that grow.

Donald Malone Visit Year 6

Last week, Year 6 were treated to a day filled with exciting activities with Donald Malone, an explorer, scientist and zoologist, who has worked all around the world with animals and conservation teams. Donald taught us all about his work in the Antarctic, linked to our topic, Frozen Kingdom.
